I left it for a couple of days and have just tried again. Managed to keep it up for 100. Very pleased with myself but just going to take it slowly to build up to a longer time. Keep trying it just suddenly clicks and off you go. Good luck.

I launched right into the full workout on the DVD and it’s not just my hips that are bruised by I can’t walk because of the leg squat exercises. When the soreness eases I will try as you suggest and just do a few minutes per day and build up. I hit it too hard too soon I think. Glad to know the bruising goes away.

This will not help if you already have bruises. If it is very bad wait for it to heal then use a regular medical(or sports is better) bandage around the hip/middle area, this provides padding and works great but only if no bruising when you start. The other option is to do more sessions but for a shorter period.

Previously, I have used a hoop for the purpose of fitness. I’ve just returned from 2 years living in the UK where they are more readily available and are much cheaper (eg. about 11 quid from Argos.)

As for the ‘fithoop’ it will serve its purpose, but the two main point of criticism I have would be:
-The interlocking connection is much less stable feeling than a screw style join.
-The bumps on the inner side (I assumed were to provide cushioning during extended periods of hooping) are filled with plastic or metal, or whatever the interior is made of, rather than simply the exterior padding being shaped. This means they are somewhat of a weapon when they meet a hip bone. My old hoop did hurt if you hooped too fast for too long, but this really limits the length of a session.

I am not sure what else is out there in AU, but I will probably do more research if/when a replacement is needed.

K

I was told I would be sent the link a couple of days before it started and I am still waiting to hear. I did make a phone call and left a message today. Myself and another friend of mine are very interested in doing this 12 Challenge and would appreciate it if you could get back to me.

Kind Regards
Leonie

I was sore and bruised after the first one hour class, but now after 5 weeks of the course I can hoop both ways, walk while hooping (most of the time), do squats. The hoop can be used for so many exercises it’s a great all body exercise and it’s fun.

I find it quite taxing but I tend to pick up the hoop when I have a spare minute. Having the weights in the hoop does make it easier. I haven’t noticed any difference in my waist etc but hopefully that will happen in due course. I used a hoop in my teens and I am now 66, if I can do it anyone can.

I first try fithoop at my friends get together party, we are all over 50, she owned a fithoop and we all had a go, i told her i could never use hulahoop when i was young let alone now! but i did try and like what you said i had a big surprise, i actually can use it, so i bought one for myself. I’m not sure if it’s going to make a big different at my age I’m 54, not overweight, but i like to keep my stomach flat. i only have my fithoop for about 3 weeks doing at least 15 minutes or more a day i really love it…put “Nutbush City Limits” tune of Tina Turner and here I go. Thank you for the great exercise products.
Chers to all, Dulce
